Gordon Sedgwick Gord is one of three partners in the firm and is known for his skills in income taxation and as a client business adviser. He was born and raised in Thornhill, Ontario. He graduated from the Business School at the University of Western Ontario with an HBA in 1976 and moved to Vancouver to work with KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick). He obtained his CA in 1982 and was transferred to their Toronto office to work as a tax specialist. After three years in this position and completing the 3-year CICA in-depth income tax course, he moved to Midland in 1987. His reputation for tax knowledge precedes him and he provides consulting support to other chartered accountants in the area. Contact Gord for:

Steve Hogg, CPA, CA – send email, or connect on LinkedIN

Steve Hogg Raised in Midland, Steve received his Honours BA from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. He completed his apprenticeship at a small firm in Guelph then went on to work at Mintz & Partners in Toronto from 1997 to 2000 with his last year specializing in their tax department. He obtained his CA designation in January 1999 then began the two year CICA in-depth tax course, completing it in 2001. Steve has been the Treasurer of the Friends of the Wye Marsh since January 2002 and has also been a member of the Tiny-Penetang Bay Liaison Committee since January 2001. Contact Steve for:

Joel Rumney, BAcc, CPA, CA – send email, or connect on LinkedIN

Joel Rumney Joel was born and raised in Midland. After receiving his BAcc (Honours) from Brock University in 2005 and obtaining his CA designation with BDO Canada in Orillia, Joel joined the firm in December 2006 and became a partner in 2012. As a part-time practice inspector with CPA Ontario, Joel inspects the practices of fellow CPAs across the province to ensure standards are held to a high level. Joel is currently the treasurer of the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce and a member of the audit committee for the Town of Midland. He previously served as the Treasurer of the Friends of the Wye Marsh and as a one-to-one mediator for people with special needs throughout University and High School. Contact Joel for:

Randy Post, CPA, CA (Ret.) – send email, or connect on LinkedIN

Randolph Post Randy has recently retired from his role as a senior partner at SPH. Randy grew up in Leaside in Toronto and received his secondary education at St. Michael’s College School. He obtained his CA in 1975 with the firm of Sheppard Cartledge Hammond & Tossell and in 1984, they merged with Clarke Henning & Co., a large Toronto-based firm. As one of 12 partners, Randy managed approximately 300 small to medium sized clients. He also represented Clarke Henning as a Board Member of I. A. International, an international organization of independent public accounting firms.

Karen Attwood, CPA, CGA – send email

Karen Attwood Imported from Chicago, Illinois, Karen received her BSBA from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1977 and her CGA in 1989. She jumped right into her career in accounting at Arthur Anderson & Co in 1977 in Chicago, and then Sedgwick Post and Hogg, here in Midland in 1981. Contact Karen for:

Melissa Page, CPA, CA – send email

Melissa  Page Melissa Page, CA was raised in Oro-Medonte and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor in Management and Organizational studies.   From 2008 until joining Sedgwick Post & Hogg, Melissa worked at Ernst and Young, LLP auditing large public and private companies.  Melissa has travelled around Australia for a year and spent five weeks in Europe.  Now she is content to rollerblade and hike outdoors around home when she isn’t accounting. Cody Drysdale, Hon. BBA, CPA, CA – send email

Cody Drysdale Cody was born and raised in Midland and graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours BBA in 2011. From 2012 until joining Sedgwick Post & Hogg, Cody worked at BDO Canada LLP where he spent a significant amount of time in the assurance department working with not-for-profit clients. In his spare time, Cody can often be found on Georgian Bay, rain or shine, enjoying the water and the occasional ice cream cone at Picnic Island.

Barb Barnum – send email

Barb Barnum Barb was born and raised in Northern Ontario.  She moved to the Midland area after coming back from spending two year working in an office in Nairobi, Kenya as a secretary.  She joined the firm in October 2005 and is currently taking courses towards her CGA designation.

Lindsay Blow – send email

Lindsay Blow Born and raised in Wyevale, Lindsay received her Bachelor of Mathematics in Statistics and then her Professional Degree in Education.  She began her accounting career as a Financial Analyst for the Ministry of Forests in British Columbia then worked for three years at a local accounting firm before joining the team at SPH in 2012.  In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys sports, traveling and playing the piano.

Tara Collison – send email

Tara Collison Tara was born and raised in Port Severn. After graduating from St. Theresa’s High School with honours, she majored in economics at York University. Tara returned to the area to raise her daughter. She joined a local accounting firm where she worked for ten years before joining our firm. She is currently pursuing her CGA designation and finishing her degree through distance education. Contact Tara for:

Kelly Daley – send email

Kelly Daley Kelly was born and raised in the Elmvale-Wasaga Beach area. After graduating from High School, she took a 2-year computer programmer diploma program at Georgian College in Barrie. After working for 2 years as Regional Manager of the Mid Ontario Snowmobile Association, she went back to college and obtained a 3-year diploma in Business Administration – Accounting with honours at Georgian College. Christine Lalonde – send email

Christine Lalonde Christine was born in Mississauga and came to Midland in 1975. After graduating from Midland Secondary School, she took the 2-year accounting diploma program at Georgian College in Barrie. She continued on and has taken many CGA courses, completed the Institute of Certified Financial Planners courses and is a Certified QuickBooks Advisor. Contact Christine for:

Norie Ventura – send email

Norie Ventura

Norie Ventura graduated with honours from the Accounting and Finance Program at Seneca College and has over 20 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience.  Norie does volunteer work with local community organizations and has obtained with honours a Fundraising and Resource Development Certificate from Georgian College.  Spending time with her family is one of her favourite things she loves to do.

Catherine MacDonald

Catherine MacDonald Catherine was our Office Administrator for several years and kept a close eye over our reception area. Catherine has lots of experience in accounting and general office administration as well as operating an income tax clinic for senior and low income earners before joining the firm in 1995. Her community involvement includes serving as trustee on the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul and Chair of the Georgian Manor Family Council.   Catherine retired from the firm in May 2012 and re-joined in a part-time role.

Henrietta Quesnelle – send email

Henrietta Quesnelle Henrietta joined our firm in February 2012 as an Administrative assistant.  After graduating high school, she pursued her education at Grande Prairie Regional College, completing the 2 year Business Administration program with a major in accounting.  Prior to relocating to Ontario, Henrietta worked as the Accounts Receivable Administrator for a manufacturing/hydraulics company in Grande Prairie, Alberta.   In 2004, Henrietta settled in the Midland area and commenced employment as a Customer Service Representative with a local financial institution where she stayed until her employment with SPH.  Outside of work, Henrietta is a dedicated and loving mom to her two lovely young daughters with whom she spends all her time with.  Occasionally she takes time to relax, visit with friends and read a great book.  Henrietta hopes to do more travelling around the world as well as revisiting her homeland Slovakia in Europe.
